It has been spoken about for a while now (I genuinely can’t remember who spoke about it first but a H/T to whoever did).
LinkedIn have start to limit the number of profiles views that can be made from search engine results.
Couple of fairly straightforward workarounds at the moment that include:
- viewing profiles in incognito mode in your browser
- searching from incognito mode in your browser
seem to be working fine, so no massive issue.
But it raises a couple of questions:
- I would have thought that this is in breach of rules around the Google algorithm. I’m not an SEO expert (and have no desire to be) but surely if content is indexed then it needs to be available for viewing in an unrestricted way?
- When will LinkedIn stop disrespecting users who load their site with data that they then index and use for commercial purposes?
Let me know what you think.
